1/2 day charter on Sunday, June 27

Sunday, June 27th, 2010

We took the Grimm family from Ky and Ohio on a 1/2 day spanish mackerel charter.  Waters were a little choppy but fish bite was decent.  We got 32 spanish in the boat and only 2 throw backs.  The last hour we decided to try for sharks.  We had three hits, lost the first two but the last one was a black tip shark that was very active, jumping up alot and was a fun fight.  It was about 45 inches and approx. 30# so had to be released but group had fun watching and helping bring it in.  Said made their trip!  Nice people and good trip.  Buster

Friday, June 25th

Friday, June 25th, 2010

Had the Chad Jenkins family from Ararat, Va for a short 1/4 day charter.  Chad wanted to see how 4 yr old son, Javen would do and also first trip for wife, Nicole and mother Mary Sawyers.  The spanish were biting again today but in deeper water - went about 30-32 ft. west of the Lockwood Folley Inlet and got 30 in approx. 2 hours.  Nice trip, a little choppy waters but go catch for short trip.  They plan to have these for supper tonight.

Thursday, June 24th 1/2 day charter

Thursday, June 24th, 2010

Had Jerry Thomas, Indian Trail, NC; Greg Frangos, Canton, Ohio; Alan Thomas and sons Taylor and David from Charlotte, NC - Spanish were biting real good and got most of them near the Lockwood Folly Inlet in 28-29 ft. water.  Only had 3 throw backs and ended up with 36 in the box, all nice size.  Decided to give the sharks a try the last hour so shark fished near the Holden Beach water tank and had a couple nibbles but not until the last minute before we pulled the lines did we get a hook up. Ended up getting an Atlantic sharpnose.  Lots of good eating for their dinner tonight  Buster

Tuesday, June 22 Backwater trip

Thursday, June 24th, 2010

Had William Gibbs and his father for a 6 hour backwater charter.  He wanted to get drum but ended up with 4 flounder and 2 blues.  Very hot day and fishing was slow but super nice guys and had a nice time.  Buster

WEDNESDAY - June 23rd.

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

Had another group from Va - Greg, Jan and Zack Kitts, Keith and Wesley Kinser and Heather Harris.  Spanish were biting near the Lockwood Folly Inlet and the Holden Beach area so got 34 spanish pretty quick and they felt that was enough fish to eat the rest of the week so decided to shark fish the last hour.  We ended up with 2 bites but couldn’t get them in but on the 3  hookup got a blacktip shark in, which put up a pretty decent fight, but was under the size limit so took pics and released.  Was a very enjoyable day and very nice family

Monday June 21 afternoon charter

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

Had  a group of 5 from Indianapolis, Indiana - 3 of them had never been in the ocean before.  It was a hot day but spanish bite was decent so started with spanish.  They just wanted  enough fish to eat for supper so stopped spanish fishing and decided to try shark fishing.  Due to time had to stay around the Holden Beach area but did get two hook ups and misses before we finally got a blacknose on and Tiffany Brown (the only girl on board) brought it in and loved the fight especially since the boys had lost their shark coming in.  A fun group and a very enjoyable trip.

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

Had people from Chapel Hill, NC celebrating a 16 yr old birthday.  Had 4 teenage boys which was just fun watching them ocean fish for the first time.  Fishing was slow but we had told the parents before we left and they decided to still go and just relax and let the boys have fun.  We caught 14 spanish mackerel,  They chose not to keep any fish.    It was a slow fishing day and very hot but enjoyed the people.
